The past few months at Life Skills are filled with mixed emotions for me. While proud of the accomplishments of staff and clients, I was deeply saddened by the loss of Joe Lott, one of our strongest advocates and supporters. Joe’s contributions to Life Skills date back many years and are listed in this newsletter. I personally will miss his wisdom, his friendly style, and his trusty hat; all of which added so much to any room where Joe was present.

The Walk Run ‘n Roll for People of All Abilities was a huge success! The hard work of staff and volunteers from seven different agencies overcame all initial doubts about a collaborative event. I was especially pleased with the free Resource Fair, where over 40 providers answered the most important question parents ask Life Skills: ‘What’s next for my child with a developmental disability?’ The Walk has encouraged us to join with other agencies to more efficiently and effectively serve people with developmental disabilities.

I’m proud of the many success stories at Life Skills which you’ll read about on these pages... our new Volunteer program, new Board Members and new services.

But I’m proudest of Jason, a young man with a disability who’s worked at Life Skills for over 5 years. He’s an integral part of the Life Skills community, not just as an excellent employee but as one of the many personalities that make Life Skills what it is today....a terrific place to work that’s made up of talented individuals dedicated to changing lives.

Please be sure to read all the articles in this issue. I hope they make you proud to be a part of the Life Skills community!
